Hemp Seed “Ranch” Dip

The holidays offer many opportunities for you to stray from your candida diet plan.

December is a month of merry making and that usually means lots of parties and more eating and drinking than usual. Two big things will set you back. Alcohol and sugar. Keep in mind that all alcohol is a neurotoxin and will slow down your candida program. If you do indulge, vodka is the best choice because it is distilled and has no sugar. Mix it with fresh lime/lemon juice or mineral water. Don’t drink tonic water or juice because they are high in sugar. As for food, don’t be too fanatical, but do try to avoid sauces and bread-y things and make the best choices possible.

If you’re planning on attending a party this holiday season, offer to bring this tasty “ranch-style” dip with plenty of fresh crudites or gluten-free crackers. This recipe, made with nutritious hemp seed, will be included in the upcoming “Candida Cure Cookbook”, due out March 2016.

Hemp Seed “Ranch” Dip

Makes 3 cups

Hemp Seed Ranch-style Dip

¾         cup olive oil

¼         cup lemon juice

2          tablespoons Raw Coconut Aminos

½         cup water

½         cup raw sunflower seeds

1           cup raw hemp seed

3          cloves garlic

1–2     tablespoons jalapeño pepper, seeded and chopped (optional)

1          teaspoon sea salt

½         teaspoon black pepper

¼         cup fresh dill, chopped

¼         cup fresh scallions, white and green parts chopped

¼         cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Place all ingredients (except the fresh herbs) in a blender and blend. Start at a low speed and gradually increase, scraping down the sides as necessary. Blend until smooth and creamy. Add the fresh herbs and blend briefly again. If you blend too long once the herbs have been added, the dip will turn green. Add a little water if the mixture is too thick and won’t blend.

Enjoy with sliced raw vegetables, gluten-free crackers, or as a salad dressing.
