Headaches – Simple Things To Alleviate

Headaches are one of the most common complaints I hear in my office. They are caused for different reasons but most are from
stress/tension and hormonal fluctuations. 

Tips on how to alleviate:

  • Breathe – most people are not breathing deeply through the day because of busy schedules and also having too many anxious fear-based thoughts. This causes oxygen deprivation to the brain, hence a headache. So take 1 minute three times a day to breath deeply; inhaling for 7 seconds, hold the inhale for 7 seconds, and exhale slowly to the the count of 7. Be sure that your abdomen is moving in and out, not just your chest.
  • Water – drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water throughout the day (example 150 lbs – drink 75 oz. of water). Your body is 70% water and dehydration can cause headaches. 
  • Elimination – make sure you are having a daily bowel movement. If not you are storing toxins that want to get out from body. If you need some help try triphala, magnesium citrate, or aloe vera juice. These remedies can be used long term.
  • Magnesium – this mineral is deficient in most Americans as not enough green leafy vegetables are eaten and soils are depleted. 500 mg – 1,000 mg of magnesium glycinate can help alleviate at headache.
  • Omega 3 Fish Oil – this essential fatty acid is not manufactured by the body and is a must in supplement form to help balance hormones and feed the brain. Take Carlson Super Omega 3 Fish Gels – 1 pill 2x/day with food.
